About Coach Daipai

Coach Daipai (aka Coach D or Coach Dip) is passionate about football, teaching others and seeing others succeed. As a native New Yorker, Coach D brings with him a combined 12 years of football experience (both playing & coaching), plus a Bachelors in Physical Education from South Carolina State University.

As a player for Lakewood High School, Coach D was a two time participant in the South Carolina North/South High School All-Star Game (2003-04). From there he received a full time scholarship to play at Clark Atlanta University (2004-05).  After making the tough decision to hang up his cleats, Coach D began to pursue his coaching career. While studying at South Carolina State University, he became a student assistant for the Defensive Backs, working under Defensive Coordinator Marice Drayton (currently Special Teams Coordinator for the Indianapolis Colts) and helped the Bulldogs make their way to a second consecutive MEAC playoff birth and fourth overall. South Carolina State's defense was 5th overall nationally, 7th overall defense in scoring, 9th in interceptions (18 in the 2009 season), and tied for 4th in fumbles recovered (15 total in 2009). Overall SCSU ranked in the top 10 against the running game, and top 15 against the pass. Also at South Carolina State, Coach D had the privilege of working with two future NFL athletes, one of whom is still playing in the league (Rafael Bush). From there Coach D went on to become the defensive coordinator for three years with the Harlem Hellfighters (2009-11).

Coach D believes in using positive reinforcement to keep an upbeat and persistent approach to the sport. Frustration and doubt are the enemy of  progress and success. Coach D's goal is to create a fun and challenging environment where failures and set backs are brushed off quickly; because, as an athlete repeats the proper technique, improvement is inevitable. He and his wife are enjoying being new parents to his 4 month old son, Ezekiel.
